Independent Neighborhood News & Talking Points

A few months ago, our neighborhood was swamped by young people running door-to-door scams offering magazine subscriptions.
This time, the young people are from our neighborhood … from Willow Glen High School, to be exact. The Rams Varsity Football Team is circulating coupon “tickets” (professionally produced by Varsity Gold fundraisers). In exchange for your $20 donation, you receive a nice collection of discount coupons for local businesses and restaurants, including Tony & Alba’s, Cold Stone Creamery, and others.
The High School confirms that the kids are raising funds for their sports, and we should expect to see other teams doing similar fundraisers throughout the year. Although the young men that came to our door weren’t in uniform, we’d recommend that they do in the future.
And for this fundraiser anyway, you can open up your wallet without too much fear.
