With the end of this year’s baseball season at WGHS comes the beginning of “construction season.” Tractors started tearing out the old baseball and softball diamonds on campus this week, pulling out the fence posts and dragging the chain-link fence across the field. It’s part of the school’s continuing facility upgrade, that included a new track and football field in previous years. Next up for your Willow Glen Rams, a new baseball diamond.

The same tractors that provided this photo opportunity also scared the neighbors a bit, resulting in a front-page story in this week’s WG Resident: “District says construction is part of bond funds, not for the dog park.”
Residents near the school, which happens to adjoin Wallenberg Park, were concerned that the heavy equipment was making way for a new parking lot and dog park. SJUSD Trustee Pam Foley and San Jose City Council District 6 aide Tony Filice set the record straight in this article. … WGx
