OK, they are not technically candidates for mayor, but they are politicians, and did show up for introductions and a brief word during the WGNA Mayoral Debate earlier in May … We briefly highlight the candidates for SCC Supervisor, District 4, and the SCC District Attorney.

Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, District 4

After two full terms representing San Jose city council district nine, Linda LeZotte is seeking new areas of influence. With the endorsement of the SJ POA and a host of district accomplishments, she hopes to continue representing the west valley on the County Board of Supervisors.

Patricia Mahan, the elected — and very popular — mayor of Santa Clara discussed some of her achievements in that city, and positioned herself as a supporter of non-annexed county neighborhoods.

Ken Yeager reminded the assemblage that the WGNA really is the envy of other neighborhood associations, and he was quite proud of his ongoing work on behalf of communities in San Jose city council district six.

Santa Clara County District Attorney

After 20 years working inside the District Attorney’s office, Marc Buller now hopes to run it. He sees the office playing a major role preventing crime before it happens. As an experienced supervisor of the juvenile offenders section, he knows how to stop the cycle of violence. He started law related education programs across the county in 1993, and they are now taught in every SJUSD elementary school.

Karen Sinunu lives in Rose Garden, and also hopes to take over the DA’s office after many years as “number two” in George Kennedy’s office. She has managed the full staff along with a $67 million budget. She has an acute appreciation for victim rights, and points to her recent success prosecuting hate crimes.

Although she could not attend, Judge Dolores Carr sent attorney John Conway to list her credentials as a judge, a private attorney, and a former member of the DA’s office. She also holds key endorsements from the SJ POA and the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

DA candidate Jim Shore did not attend the WG forum.
