CURB RAMP IMPROVEMENTS IN DISTRICT 6

I am happy to report that the Department of Transportation will be installing 38 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps in District 6. Curb ramps provide our community with improved wheelchair access and more convenient walking routes.

The City’s General Fund is providing one time funding that will install 30 ramps in the Lincoln Avenue area through a previously approved Lincoln Avenue pedestrian improvement project.

The remaining eight ramps were selected based on known routes used and requests by persons with disabilities; known locations in the safe walking routes to school plan; known routes to senior and community centers and around parks; and requests from the community through Neighborhood Action Committees, Strong Neighborhoods Initiative meetings, and through my office.
