Are you still undecided for Tuesday’s mayoral election? You are not alone. Here are some different reasons why a resident of Willow Glen might vote one way or another for mayor …

pandoriWhy should you vote for David Pandori?: The San Jose Mercury News, Tom McEnery, and others call him an “outsider with inside experience” in their endorsements of him. Also endorsed by San Jose Inside’s Single Gal, and we like her weblogs, too. It’s not near us, which is why you should want Coyote Valley to remain undeveloped as long as possible. Not from WG, but his campaign office is on Lincoln Avenue. His book is good reading for anyone who likes this City, and his unique, family-centered campaign material hit a nice chord. But, most of all, based on his performance at the WGNA Mayoral Debate and his experience and clearly defined ideas, he is now officially endorsed by Willow Glen Extra. We’re sure he’s very excited about that.

Of course, there are other reasons why a resident of Willow Glen might vote for a different candidate. If you’re still looking for a compelling reason to pick one candidate, we’ve collected some additional observations about each of them:

mulcahy Why would you vote for Michael Mulcahy: We’ll start with the obvious … He might be your landlord or your favorite coffee shop’s landlord. He is endorsed by SVCN (the parent of the WG Resident) and by the publishers of the weekly Metro. The “white papers” published on his webpage contain many good suggestions, and he clearly understands our neighborhood. Despite the recent mudslinging, an endorsement from the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce is still a good thing. And most of all, (we’re biased) running a community-based non-profit teaches you how to do everything. And Children’s Musical Theater is pretty cool.

chavez Why would you vote for Cindy Chavez: Just about everyone who has ever met Cindy likes her as a person. She’s endorsed by Ken Yeager, and Willow Glen might not be the same without him. And Susan Hammer and Zoe Lofgren aren’t slouches, either. We like her well-designed website, and she’s supported by the low-profile unions headquartered in WG (at Old Almaden Road & Canoas Garden).

cortese Why would you vote for David Cortese: He’s endorsed by the Times Media Group (publishers of the monthly Willow Glen Times), and the San Jose Firefighters Local 230, which might mean we get to keep Hose Wagon #6 for another year or so. As a PAL Board Member, he’s a staunch supporter of Police Activity League sports programs, including WG PAL Soccer.

reed Why would a Willow Glenite vote for Chuck Reed: His “Reed Reforms” are straight-forward, ethics-based keys to running any large city. He is very clear on his priorities for spending the City’s money. … and simply put, Air Force Fighter Pilots are cool:

Kim (Reed) Campbell and her father, Chuck, graduated number one in their class at the United States Air Force Academy. They are the first father-daughter cadet wing commander team in Air Force Academy history.

Whatever your choice, please vote!
