Remember those anxious days awaiting your own personal test scores from high school or college? School hasn’t even started yet, but that anxiety might already be rising in our local schools.
As the SJ Mercury News reported on Monday, a variety of state and federal measures of school performance will be released over the next month:
Overall, the four different “report cards” are intended to tell a distinct story about student achievement and school performance. But educators acknowledge that the upcoming barrage of numbers — from STAR, the California High School Exit Exam, the state Academic Performance Index and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress program — might be overwhelming to parents and school-watchers because they are coming so close together.
