We are approaching the annual “Best Of” season again in Silicon Valley, a four-month gauntlet of reader polls and editor’s picks that tell us what we probably already know about the place where we live.

Since we view most “Best Of” reports as mostly advertising gimmicks for publishers, rather than helpful guides to our community (take for example last year’s “best children’s bookstore” category in the WG Times), let’s have a little fun with it!

First up this year … Metro Silicon Valley’s Readers Poll, which includes zillions of categories. In the printed ballot, available on newsstands right now, you have to cast votes in 30 (yes thirty) categories in order to participate. Naturally, we got to thinking …. if you just focused on WG, could you actually cast 30 votes?
