Independent Neighborhood News & Talking Points

Oh, bother! This WGx post full of intrigue and anticipation was going to be the feature article today! But then the website server took a little vacation, and then Murphy’s Law stepped in. Then we got an email from Clark Williams, announcing Ken Yeager’s endorsement.
So for a few hours anyway, please pretend you didn’t know that and ponder the possibilities anyway ….
Who Will Yeager Endorse? … a “tardy” article from WGx …
The District 6 City Council race includes an interesting subplot … who will departing Councilmember Ken Yeager endorse? After running for the County Supervisor in District 4 and winning outright in the primary, Yeager has the opportunity to be a king-maker. Certainly the candidate he endorses would advance from the primary election, which will be held November 7.
So, who will it be?
Clark Williams is running — in part — because Yeager has cleared the way for an openly gay politician in San Jose.
For other possibilties, consider that Williams, Jim Spence, and Steve Tedesco all endorsed Yeager for for his run for supervisor. Spence and candidate Brad Imamura ran against Yeager in 2000.
Pierluigi Oliverio is the early leader in lawn signs, but Yeager has committed to meeting all of the candidates — including lesser-known Art Maurice — before he commits. Stay tuned.
Thanks for indulging! So much for being a respectable news organization.

Subject: Councilmember Ken Yeager Endorses Clark Williams
Dear David,
I am proud and honored to announce that I have been endorsed by Councilmember Ken Yeager in my race for the District 6 seat on the San Jose City Council. Ken has been a tremendous advocate for our neighborhoods and I have big shoes to fill. I deeply appreciate his confidence in my abilities to continue serving the residents of District 6.
In making his endorsement of my candidacy, Councilmember Yeager said,
Also on Monday, I was endorsed by the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council (COPE), the Dean Democratic Club of Silicon Valley, and the Santa Clara Democratic Club. …
The political lawn sign blight is back! Check out Barry Swenson’s vacant lot at Meridian & Curci. Either Oliverio and Tedesco are endorsed by Swenson and share his stance against Measure A or these guys are going to suffer the same fate as Mulcahy.
After reading this earlier post, no one would confuse WGx with a politically accurate pundit. From the original post above:
Anyway …
For the March 6 run-off election (the one that doesn’t include his initial endorsee), Yeager has endorsed Pierluigi Oliverio.
