Although it’s December, this post is not about the traditional Holiday Lights that WG is known for. … Although new stadium lights at WGHS would undoubtedly lead to some new traditions.
The WGHS Athletic Department is rallying parents and coaches to support the idea of adding lights to the sports stadium at Willow Glen High School. The school will be hosting a meeting this Thursday, December 14 @ 6:30 pm in the school’s library media center, and the possibility of adding stadium lights will be discussed.

Additional meetings are scheduled for January 11 (7:00 pm in WGHS room L-101) and on February 12.
And the January 11 meeting resulted in further clarification of SJUSD plans and WG community concerns ….

Unfortunate news from SJUSD this week … the meeting originally scheduled for February 12 has been postponed after the consultant from Shaw Environmental was involved in a serious auto accident this weekend.
The consultant will make a full recovery, but the meeting has been postponed. WGx will pass along more information as it becomes available.
The final Community Stadium Lights meeting for WGHS will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 6:00 pm.
The agenda will consist of a presentation of the draft CEQA study for each respective site regarding the potential installation of athletic field lighting for evening sporting events at your neighborhood high school.
There will be discussion of the analysis and findings regarding impacts, and any proposed mitigation measures. The community will be given opportunity to provide input regarding the report which will be considered and incorporated into the report to the extent appropriate.
After much debate, the lights were finally approved by the SJUSD School Board in May:
