It’s time again for Silicon Valley Reads, and this year’s literary work is The Tortilla Curtain
by T.C. Boyle. Almost all of the libraries in San Jose and Santa Clara County will host discussions and recorded interviews with the author.
The book depicts immigration through the eyes of two Southern California couples who live in different circumstances. The novel chronicles their relationship against the background of growing hostility between immigrants and native residents .
For a complete schedule visit the Silicon Valley Read website. Of course, there will be no activities at the closed-for-renovation Willow Glen Library, but WGx will provide reminders of events at other, nearby branches.

Since the event was co-hosted by the Commonwealth Club, updates may appear on the club’s archive.
Of course, there’s a T.C. Byole fan site that is hosting comments, too:
The SJ Mercury News featured an interview with the author in its Sunday books section … “Chosen for 2007 Community Reading Program, 1995 Immigration Novel Rings Ruer Than Ever.”
The paper also printed another version of the Silicon Valley Reads schedule of events.
