Independent Neighborhood News & Talking Points

You’ve probably seen the signs … bright pastel colors announcing Easter Egg Hunts at Lincoln Glen Park, Willow Street Bramhall Park, and Kirk Park, all starting at 1:30 on Saturday, April 7, 2007. Further from WG, hunts are also scheduled for De Anza Park, Hogue Park, Sherman Oaks Elementary School, and more than 30 locations across the region.
Although the signs don’t reveal their secrets, they are part of the “HUNT” Easter campaign by the Bay Area’s Beautiful Day, a network of churches working to “unleash compassion into the local community.”
The whole idea for HUNT was born out of frustration. Some organization-run events can lose the personal touch and excellence needed to host a community-wide event. This is a great opportunity for churches to excel in creativity and innovation when it comes to serving our neighbors. Christ has served us well, this is our chance to serve others well. Each site runs basically the same way.
The Bramhall Park event is hosted by Willow Glen Baptist Church and the Lincoln Glen hunt is happening thanks to the Church on the Hill. The event at Kirk Park is sponsored by Lincoln Glen Church:
When it comes to a well stocked HUNT site… we have chosen to model the measure of goodies to the measure of grace that God has given us… LOTS!! Each site has 3500 plastic eggs (with candy) and 1500 gift items for kids to find. There are surprise golden tickets for larger prizes, pictures, and refreshments for everyone.
