While WGx is celebrating the Sharks as an exciting community event, at least one person living in Morgan Hill thinks VTA should drop its flashing "Go Sharks" bus lights. From Mr. Roadshow in this morning's SJ Mercury News:

Q: I noticed that the lighted signs on a Valley Transportation Authority bus flash "Go Sharks." Please tell me the cash-strapped transportation agency is making money from this. With all due respect to Sharks fans, I hope we're not using government-owned equipment to advertise a privately owned business without compensation.

A: Are you from Detroit? Come on, get on the Sharks bandwagon.

The VTA is not collecting money from our favorite hockey team, but this gesture is not costing the agency anything. It can program about 150 messages, including holiday wishes, alerts, safety messages or special messages like this. Said Brent-the-VTA-Man: "The VTA is a partner with the community and would like to support the Sharks with their playoff run."

Seriously, Arlen .... don't expect the Stanley Cup to be paraded down Main Street in Morgan Hill this year, even if the Sharks do win it. sheesh ....
