A two-alarm fire on Lincoln Avenue yesterday afternoon got a lot of attention after Lincoln Avenue was closed for several hours between Broadway and Coe. While damage is reported at $400,000 (including a car, a camper, and four motorcycles), no injuries were reported.

Normally slaving away as editor for the WG Resident, Moryt Milo filed a report for the SJ Mercury News early this morning, too late to make this morning’s printed edition. Her article depicts the brave actions of two bystanders:

The fire was reported about 4 p.m. by four women who had parked in front of the home and noticed smoke on the side of the dwelling. Chessa Duran, along with a man who was nearby, ran inside the home to make sure no one was inside.

The two had to escape through the back of the house because the smoke inside the home had gotten too thick for them to leave through the front door. Duran and the unidentified man were not injured.
