   Wow! Intrigue and confusion abound in Downtown Willow Glen!

   Two weeks after running a story about the relocation of Calee’s Lilies, the WG Resident has put a more complete version of the story on their front page — and the story gets a little confusing:

   The mural started in early January was part of new business owner Calee Grabinski’s efforts to beautify the location, but she never contacted her landlord Barbara Gordon for approval.

   “I told her when it was first started that I had not given my permission to do that,” said Gordon, who lives in Southern California.

   She became aware of the mural after property management forward her photos in the mail.

   The lack of permission coupled with Grabinski’s being late paying her rent led to Gordon terminating the florist’s lease.

   Grabinski filed a lawsuit in Santa Clara Superior Court to fight the termination, but on May 18, Gordon said the two settled out of court, and Grabinski agreed to vacate the shop by July 4.

   But wait. There’s more:

   Grabinski’s claim that she is relocating to the former site of Fleurish on Lincoln Avenue has also raised the ire of that building’s landlord.

   According to the landlord, who is not comfortable being identified, Grabinski filled out an application to move into the location, but he has not finalized the screening process to determine who he will rent the space to.

   Grabinski’s claims that she is relocating down the street at this time are unfounded, according to the landlord.

   The infamous Calee’s Lillies flower mural has finally been removed from the wall abutting Minnesota Avenue, just in time for the big Founders Day celebration at the end of September.

   Calee, on the other hand, is still around — she relocated across the street, in the old Veranda site, near Hicklebees Books.
