Former Albertsons building becomes home to Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market

San José — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets is the new tenant for the former Albertsons Store located at the corner of Bird and Minnesota Avenues in the Willow Glen area of San Jose. Albertsons closed its doors over a year ago, leaving the building empty and the neighborhood without a grocery store. Neighbors have been hoping for a new grocery store at that location since Albertsons closed.

Fresh & Easy will utilize the existing building and will install and use energy efficient equipment. Fresh & Easy prides itself as being a neighborhood grocery store by offering quality food, including organic choices and pre-prepared meals. Fresh & Easy offers their own line of products that do not have added trans fat and no artificial colors of flavors. In addition, Fresh & Easy pride themselves on keeping their stores clean, including the parking lot and receiving areas.

“I am excited about the concept and contribution that Fresh & Easy will bring to the surrounding neighborhood,” stated Ted Peterson, Vice President of Collins Development Property. “Fresh & Easy is a cross between Whole Foods and Trader Joes, which I think is a great blend for the Willow Glen area.”

“I am pleased that Collins Development found a grocery tenant for Willow Glen Village,” shared Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio. “I am also proud of the investment that Collins Development is planning for the Willow Glen Village which includes painting and a re-striped parking lot.”

Fresh & Easy will hold a community meeting within the next three months to introduce their store to the neighborhood. For more information, please visit the Fresh & Easy website at www.freshandeasy.com
