The sunset presented a spectacular display of darkening clouds and bright orange hues tonight, unusual by almost any measure. While some were concerned that additional fires had broken out across the region, it appears now that the haze is a combination of smoke from at least three fires, the Martin Fire (Santa Cruz), the Indians/Ventana Fire (Monterey), and the Paradise Fire (Butte County). Swirling off-shore winds and onshore counter breezes have collided over Santa Clara County. Until something gives, the dramatic sky will remain.
