Downtown WG’s Urban Sports has begun a liquidation sale this week, and will close in a few days as inventory sells out:

The reincarnation of the former “WG Runners Supply” finds itself squeezed between raising rents from their landlord, credit refusals from the their bank, and product exclusions from a nearby competitor. A slowing economy doesn’t help. Owner — and major community supporter — Lance Maurer is not sure what he’ll do next, although customers hope that an online presence may resume soon.

I think its sad that another business is going out of business in our little down town ….. I know its hard with todays ” big Box ” brick and mortor stores.. BUT its double hard when not only do you have to compete with deep discount but expensive / sometimes greedy land lords …
when will the land lords / owners realize that sooner or later their “precious” space will be vacant year round if they dont lower the rent and help a tenant ….
