Restrooms Celebrating Columbus Day

Sure, the weather is gloriously sunny — if not a little windy — but you might want to think twice about visiting a City of San Jose park today. Monday, October 13, is officially Columbus Day, which means public restrooms in parks across the City are closed today:

Technically, the staff to clean the restrooms have the day off, and keeping the facilities open would cost the City overtime. Of course, this happens every year, but this is the first time that the official fliers explain the situation honestly:

Due to budget constraints, the restroom in the park will be closed on the following holidays:

Tuesday, November 11 — Veterans Day
Thursday, November 27 — Thanksgiving
Friday, November 28 — Thanksgiving
Wednesday, December 24 — Christmas Eve
Thursday, December 25 — Christmas
Wednesday, December 31 — New Year’s Eve
Thursday, January 1 — New Year’s Day
Monday, January 19 — Martin Luther King, Jr Day
Monday, February 16 — President’s Day

Restrooms will be operated on peak attendance during warm season City Holidays March through September.

If you have questions, please call the Parks Division office at 408-277-5434
