Neighbors Oppose ARCO’s Tree Removal Request

Willow Glen’s ARCO gas station wants to remove three large pine trees from its property. The station is located on Street as you leave WG headed toward Highway 87. Naturally, neighbors want the trees to stay.

Since the trees provide a natural barrier between the business and its neighbors, local residents like Katy Dickinson would like the trees to remain:

The trees are lovely in themselves and they also do much to reduce the lights and noise of the gas station. (Many customers thoughtlessly leave their radios on full blast while pumping gas. Last summer the ARCO’s ATM machine was broken and beeping every few minutes for days at a time.) So, we neighbors are exchanging information to be sure letters are written in advance to the city planner and we are represented at the hearing.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, and the permit request “to remove three (3) Stone Trees, approximately 24 to 32 inches in circumference” located at the back of the station remains pending.

In addition to these comments, Dickinson has posted pictures of the trees and the gas station on her weblog. And WGx has asked her to keep us all informed. Stay tuned.
